The other day I went to change out our bathtub drain because the popup piece that stops the water appeared to be loose. I came to find out it was because the cross members were broken and the stopper didn’t have anything to connect to.
It is hard to see in the picture with the drain still in the bathtub (2), but you can see once it was pulled out what it looked like (1).
So the tool that I had on hand, a “Bathtub Drain Wrench”, (3) was useless.
I went to Home Depot in hopes of finding a solution and thankfully they had one. It was this tool here (4) and was located with all the other plumbing tools. It was called a “Bathtub Drain Extractor” and cost about $20.
After getting this tool the solution was easy. Pound it in with a hammer so the threads on it get stuck on the drain (5).
Use a socket wrench to unscrew the stuck tool and the drain comes out with it (6).
After the drain is removed; prep it up and place in the new drain.
Using the before mentioned tool, the “Bathtub Drain Wrench” makes it easy to screw in.
You could just use pliers or something simple like that to do this as well.
The tool just needs to be dropped into place and turned.
I happened to have a tent stake close by so that is what I used to turn it.
(See image on the left)
And then it is in as good as new. Screw the stopper on and we are good to go. (Images below)
The kids can use the tub again.
If you happen to live close by and would rather not spend the $20 to purchase the Tub Drain Extractor then you can rent it from me for just a couple of bucks. (I know I would rather have done that if I had the choice since I probably won’t be using it again.)
So I will let you use it.

Treehouses aren’t at all as expensive as you might think and they shouldn’t pose as much of a challenge to build, especially if you’re an experienced DIYer.
This treehouse plan (Kids Treehouse) by Build Eazy was made especially for kids and isn’t your typical treehouse. According to Build Eazy, it’s more of a tree platform, which is a platform built around a tree that includes a slide and swing set.
Once you’re done with this treehouse, your kids will definitely be feasting their eyes on it and might not even want to leave it anymore. Good luck calling them in for dinner!

Accumulating material possessions has always been an issue of the human heart since the beginning of time.
It has come to a point where we’ve accumulated too much stuff that we no longer know what to do with our things.
And then renting came into the picture. People found a way to make use of the many things they already have at home, with the benefit of earning and saving money in the process.
The first known rental happened in the 1930s when a truck seller rented his truck to a customer who only needed it for a day.
And thus, rental shops emerged and gradually spread around the globe and even evolved to the online rental shops we use today.
If your question is, “Why should I rent? Why don’t I just buy?” We’ve written down 20 reasons that might just convince you to rent.
Why Should I Rent?
1. It’s cheaper to rent than to buy something brand new.
2. And because it is cheaper, renting can help with financial deficiency. For example, if an individual could not afford to buy a house, they should consider renting.
3. Additionally, it gives you the opportunity to experience using expensive and luxurious products that may be difficult to afford.
4. Moreso, renting allows you to save money and can help with your budget planning. Thus, it is considered a frugal practice to rent.
5. When you need something only temporarily, like a tool, a car, a commercial space, and more, we recommend renting.
6. Renting will save you space around the house since the item isn’t yours and will be returned, you wouldn’t have to worry about where to pack it when it is not in use.
7. Less waste is dumped if you choose to rent. About 1,980,262,621 of waste and counting are being dumped worldwide this year.
8. Renting gives you the freedom to try out different hobbies before you truly pursue them. You can rent musical instruments, photography equipment, sports gear, and much more, most of which can be quite costly investments.
9. Maintenance and repairs are not going to be an issue.
10. You don’t have to worry about durability and lifespan either.
11. Renting out your own items will allow for extra income and keep your things from remaining idle at home.
12. It doesn’t just allow for extra income, it will also eventually pay you back and cross over the original value of the product, making it as if you got the item for free, to begin with.
13. Thanks to online rental shops, you can rent at the comfort of your own home and with just the tapping of buttons.
14. Online rental is a big contributor to the sharing economy, which is an important factor to keep in mind since almost everything revolves around the sharing economy these days.
15. If you’re looking to buy something brand new, you might want to review the item first, and renting that item can help you with that. Renting will assist you in deciding whether that particular product is worth purchasing at full price or not.
16. Renting provides you access to a wide collection of media such as books, comics, music, and movies. You can finally read the whole Harry Potter series or watch the whole Matrix trilogy without having to buy them at their standard price.
17. Did you know that renting dogs is a thing? By doing so, you can gauge whether owning one is really for you or if it’s companionship is just something you need occasionally.
18. Thanks to peer-to-peer rentals like Airbnb and VRBO, traveling out of town and finding accommodation elsewhere is made easier.
19. Renting promotes sharing.
20. 43 Million Americans rent, according to a study by Harvard.

Thanksgiving is drawing near and most of us are already fixated on cooking our turkey the classic oven-baked way.
Your neighbors, on the other hand, may be interested in experimenting this year with different methods.
While there are indeed other ways of preparing Thanksgiving turkey, these creative ways will require certain kitchen appliances to make them possible to prep for.
We’ve listed said kitchen appliances and if you own any of these, you can earn a little extra this year by convincing your neighbors to rent them from you for Thanksgiving dinner.
The most unhealthy way, out of all the appliances, to cook a turkey; a deep fryer will give your Thanksgiving bird the crispiest texture and the juiciest taste that no other appliance can create. You may not be interested in giving your turkey an oil bath this year, but your neighbors might just want to give your deep fryer a try.
The air fryer is a great way to get your turkey crispy and moist but without the need for added oil. Its convection heating mechanism causes a circulation of heated air to surround your food, giving it that same result a deep-fryer would make but with less fat, making it a healthier alternative to deep-frying.
No other kitchen appliance will give you that smokey yet moist and flavorful turkey dinner than the griller. It also gives the fellas a chance to talk about football over some beers while allowing the missus to chit chat with the rest of the ladies in the kitchen.
To allow your turkey to come out nice and tender, we highly recommend you give the slow cooker a shot. It may just take some time to prepare as a down-side, but it will all be worth it in the end. Also, a great way to make the perfect turkey stew is through a slow cooker, just so you know.
Water bathing your turkey is also another fantastic way to give your turkey that tender juicy flavor without having to incorporate any additional grease. The only con being that sous-vide machines are expensive, so not everyone will be privileged enough to experience sous-viding their turkey. If you won’t be sous-viding your turkey this year, consider renting yours to a neighbor who’s interested in trying out a fresh new style of cooked turkey.
My Garage Rentals is a neighbor-to-neighbor platform that allows you to easily have your personal belongings rented to those around you.
This coming Thanksgiving is an opportunity for you to make some money if you’re willing to lend out your appliances for rent. Our platform is the perfect tool to assist you in making smooth and secure transactions with your neighbors.

You read that title right! And before you go and accuse this blog of being a scam, give it a chance and read on through. You will not regret this informative 3-minute read.
First off, a slight disclaimer, not all items or tools may prove effective with the use of this method. But later in the article, we’ll be giving you examples of tools that will actively work in applying what you’ll learn.
So, let’s get down to the nitty-gritty.
Everybody wants free stuff. But free things are hard to come by these days. While a majority of the world believes in the saying, “nothing in life comes free,” we, on the other hand, beg to differ.
There is indeed a way to get free stuff, and additionally, you can even earn from them over time and still call them your own.
Although this article will focus on one specific kind of tool, you can still take advantage of these steps with other items as well, so read on.
What tools are you buying?
The first thing to do is to determine what kind of tool you’re buying, whether it’s a hand tool or a power tool.
Strategically, you’d buy a tool you know to be useful for something you are working on now and for future projects.
Another thing you’d ideally have to give some thought on is whether the item will be something another person would use occasionally.
There are various kinds of tools homeowners occasionally use but aren’t willing to purchase due to their price, and the usage infrequency relative to that cost.
Think of carpet cleaners for instance. Everybody wants nothing more than to have their carpets cleaned on a regular basis, but most people don’t purchase the cleaner because they only use it once a year.
It’s also good to note that the heavier-duty the item, the better. Let’s take for instance a gas chainsaw; it’s heavy-duty and something a person would need on certain occasions and it’s probably something that most homeowners are not going to want to purchase, again due to the cost relative to the infrequency of use.
Find the best and closest hardware store or visit their website.
The next obvious step is to visit the hardware store of your choice. We would suggest you choose the closest one, just to be on the safe and convenient side.
And if you’re uncomfortable going out in public, for safety and health reasons, you can always opt to visit your favorite hardware store’s website. The best hardware stores often have an official e-commerce website where you can order their products online.
We suggest these well-known hardware stores; Lowe’s, Home Depot, Ace Hardware, and Do it Best, all of which have websites and offer ship-to-home delivery services.
For this method to work effectively, we suggest that you refrain from choosing to buy from hardware stores that vend cheap and less durable products, i.e., Harbor Freight.
Like we mentioned above, you need to consider purchasing more durable products; that way, you’re able to take advantage of the tools much longer and earn more from it over time.
So again, consider the quality of the tool you will be getting. Suggestively, you would purchase an item that costs more on the lines of $200 and above. These are usually much longer-lasting than others.
For the sake of this article, we’re going to use the gas chainsaw as an example.
We can look at this Husqvarna 455 Rancher 20-in 55.5-cc 2-Cycle Gas Chainsaw for instance, which costs $475.99, found at Lowe’s official website.
And before you go complain and say, “I thought you said this was how to get free tools? Why are you telling me to buy then?” Well, we’ll get to that in the following paragraphs.
Put your item up for rent.
Now that you have a new gas chainsaw, the money-making part is putting it up for rent online.
My Garage Rentals is a great peer-to-peer rental platform you can use to put any of your personal belongings up for rent, whether it’s used or brand new.
Registration is easy, and listing your item up for rent is just as simple.
My Garage Rentals allows its users full control over the item’s rental duration; this can come in handy for when you need your tools back during a specific time.
You aren’t only in full control over how much your item will be priced per day, but you also get to choose how much the security deposit will be.
Utilize your item.
And now that you have your chainsaw listed on My Garage Rentals for rent, all that’s left to do is to wait and hope for a customer nibble.
The waiting part is when you use your chainsaw for whatever it is you need it for, and when someone requests it on My Garage Rentals, that’s when you have it prepared for rental and ready to go.
Other types of items.
The best part about this is that it doesn’t have to just be power tools or DIY equipment.
My Garage Rentals caters to any type of item that falls under any type of category, be it a camera, professional audio, sports gear, camping equipment, you name it.
Just make sure that it is something a renter will find useful, or else you may end up unlucky in finding customers.
So, if you’ve been hesitating on buying that heavy-duty tool that you’ve been eyeing for so long, terrified by what was written on the price tag, fret no more!
If you have the money now, I say, “just get it!”
Hardware stores often take tools that cost around $400 in retail and have them rented for $60/day. If you followed this same model on My Garage Rentals, with some patience, you could pay for that tool after renting it out 7 times. Then it will just be pocket money from thereon.Read More
Number 9 is going to shock you!
We’ve entered into an era where the global economy is standing on a thin foundation, swaying back and forth. Not a single soul knows when all of this will end; if we take a look at the previous SARS pandemic, we see that a pandemic can last for more than a year.
Until then, we ought to keep in mind that we may be facing this economic crisis for a little while longer than we think; therefore, we should consider cutting down on unnecessary expenses to save more money in preparing us for this long uncertainty.
Renting instead of buying stuff is a great way to save especially since most of what we buy ends up collecting dust in our garages anyway. Here are 11 things to consider renting over buying. Oh and watch out for number 9, you will surely be surprised!
A growing number of users have gone to My Garage Rentals to rent out tools for their home projects.
Gardening and DIY tools are on the top of our list of things you can rent out instead of buying brand new. Have you ever had a project at home where you ended up needing a certain type of tool, later realizing that you only really need it for that one time?
It wouldn’t just be a waste of your money, it would also be a waste of space around your home. The good news is, you don’t have to buy your tools brand new. My Garage Rentals offers peer-to-peer rental services, allowing you to borrow and lend out DIY and gardening tools you think won’t be needed for more than once.
2. Home and Spaces
You can rent an office space for your emergency conference meetings over at Liquidspace.
You might be planning to move to a new town but aren’t exactly particularly sure yet whether you will stay or not, we suggest that you rent a place first before buying just to see if that town suits you.
Websites like Airbnb, VRBO, and Home Away allow you to take advantage of services like this. Their system gives you the ease of mind knowing that the place you’re renting is secured and owned by good quality folks.
Homes aren’t the only spaces you can rent. Some of us might even need just a small portion of space, maybe for a conference meeting; rent out an office space, or a photoshoot studio with LiquidSpace. Can’t find a place to park? Why not rent a parking space with Just Park.
3. Photography Equipment
Lens Rentals exist for the main purpose of supporting photographers financially, especially beginners.
Entering into photography can be expensive, especially for students with a limited budget. Buying a brand-new camera body alone will cost you about $700, depending on the model and brand; on the other hand, a separate camera lens will cost you about the same price, depending as well on the brand and type of lens you choose.
I haven’t even included yet the rest of the basic gear like a tripod, reflector, flash, stabilizer, and so on. These will cost you a fortune should you choose to buy them brand new.
Fortunately, you don’t have to buy brand new equipment to start your way up to the photography business. Peer-to-peer platforms for camera gear do exist such as Borrow Lenses and Lens Rentals. My Garage Rentals also allows you to rent camera gear of all kinds.
Rent a book instead of buying one. Take to Book Renter for all your book rental needs.
Let’s be honest, the majority of people after they’ve done reading their books, most likely end up stacking them on top of their shelves, never again to be read; or dump them in the trash, to be later destroyed forever.
A research study on textbook recycling in America by the National Wildlife Federation shows that about 320 million books are sent to the landfill each year; that’s a pretty large sum to be wasted.
But there is a silver lining to this situation; websites like My Garage Rentals, Campus Books, and Book Renter are some of the many platforms that allow you to rent out a book instead of buying one brand new. You can also post your old books up for rent to earn a little extra income.
5. Professional Audio
Professional Audio can be a really expensive investment, but we can always rent through rentals like Capital Audio Rental.
Another thing to consider renting instead of buying is professional audio equipment. Trust me when I say that professional audio gear is tremendously expensive to own. I used to work at a music store that sold professional audio and the cheapest but least recommended speaker you could find will cost you about $800 and that’s just the left speaker.
There are a bunch of trustworthy audio rental services out there including Capital Audio Rental, Hollywood Sound, and soon enough My Garage Rentals. If you’re already a proud owner of a professional audio set, you can even start-up your audio rental by utilizing My Garage Rentals‘ peer-to-peer services which allows you to post your gear online for rent.
6. Sports and Outdoor Gear
Benefit from renting sports and camping gear instead of buying costly equipment.
Sports and other outdoor gear can be pretty pricey. The Pinarello Gan Disk 105 Road Bike, for example, will cost you $2,850; instead, you can rent a Leader 721 Road Bike over at My Garage Rentals for only $30 a day, which will surely save you a ton of money if you will only be using it for a couple of days.
Camping can get pretty expensive too since you will be needing a full set of gear before you’re well-prepared for the woods. Fortunately, there are shops like REI that allow you to rent camping gear such as camping bags, tents, shoes, and other camping and outdoor needs.
Let’s not forget the ride you and your family will be using to get to said camping destination; RVshare connects you with local RV owners who are willing to lend you their RV’s for your long trips, so you wouldn’t have to buy one brand new.
My Garage Rentals also offers rental for both camping gear and other outdoor and sports equipment.
You don’t have to live luxuriously in-order to use a yacht, you can rent one and save yourself from throwing away your money.
This saves you a lot of those expenses that come with buying a brand-new boat. Let’s be real here, do you really need a boat of your own?
Everybody knows that cars are expensive. Luckily there are multiple car rental services across the states and across the web.
The earth can truly benefit from you the moment you decide to rent a car rather than buy one brand-new. Don’t get me wrong, it’s convenient to own a car of your own.
If you live in a high-density city like New York or you’re just heading out of town for a two-day retreat or vacation, it’ll benefit your wallet more if you rent a car instead. Not only do you lessen your carbon footprint, but you also save a ton of money altogether.
Dogs are great companions, we could all use a companion when things get a little too lonely or stressful.
Bet you didn’t think it was possible, did you? Indeed, you can rent your very own canine. This can prove to be beneficial for those who need a furry companion just to get through the blues.
Another reason one would exploit these services would be to treat it as a trial to dog-owning, to see whether or not they can handle owning a dog. Whatever the reason may be, it’s a great way to save yourself from spending big bucks for a canine companion you probably wouldn’t need for more than a couple of days or so.
You can check out Borrow My Doggy if you’re interested.
Fortunately, in this day and age, we can stream and rent our entertainment online.
Gone are the days of Blockbuster where you rent out movies, music, and video games physically. Because of the advancement of the internet, services like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, and Roku have proven to be the much more dominant alternative to renting movies.
The best part is, you wouldn’t even have to leave your home to take advantage of their services, just register your method of payment and you can watch a movie with just a push of a button or two.
But if it’s music you want, I’m sure you’ve heard of Spotify, I mean, who hasn’t? Video games are no exemption to renting too, all thanks to GameFly we can now rent video games online for however long we wish to use it.
Rent a dress or a coat for that upcoming special occasion of yours, it’ll save you a ton of money as compared to buying.
Ever thought of renting out a dress or a coat for that upcoming prestigious double date with the boss and his wife? Or maybe for your son or your daughter’s senior prom?
Dress for Less, Rent the Runway, and The Black Tux makes it possible to rent out dresses and coats. You can now wear that Elizabeth & James dress you’ve always dreamed of without having to spend your entire savings!
If you’re looking for something for the little ones, look no further than Borrowed Boutique, a clothing rental steered towards kids.
Finally, you can rent almost anything. My Garage Rentals is a peer-to-peer rentals website that allows you to rent out almost anything, from power tools like an electric drill or an orbital saw to home appliances like a washing machine or an air conditioner.
Did I forget to mention you could rent out your items as well and make a few extra bucks while you’re at it?
The internet has privileged us with many convenient ways to buy and shop; but more importantly, it has also given us convenient ways to rent and sell almost whatever we want, and to choose the latter and save more money is completely up to us. You choose, would you still rather buy than rent?
The number of active COVID-19 cases has not ceased from rising and it just keeps ongoing. Because of this, multiple states in the US and countries around the world have now implemented mandates that require residents and business employees to wear face masks in certain settings.
While some are pleased with the regulations, others believe it is a violation of their free rights. Whether you are a face mask skeptic and do not wish to go to work wearing one or you’re just looking for a job that doesn’t require you to have to go outside and risk your health, you might want to consider working from home instead.
We’ve come up with 10 awesome platforms you can have look at to help get you that work-at-home secured experience.
Upwork, Indeed, and Fiverr
Six years ago, digital outsourcing sprung up to the business world like an embryo, and it wasn’t until recently that people started rushing to the web to apply for work. It grew and became one of the fastest ways to hire employees and look for work.
Digital outsourcing gives freelancers a platform to help make working virtually at home possible, as long as you have internet and a computer of course. Upwork, Indeed, and Fiverr are the most well-known websites when it comes to digital outsourcing and job searching.
From start-up businesses to rapidly growing companies, employers from around the globe look to these websites as the go-to platform when it comes to hiring. Being that it is the go-to website for most employers, finding the work that best suits your skills will be nothing but effortless.
Upwork has been online for several years now and over 10,200 employees have taken advantage of Indeed’s services. Like the other two websites, Fiverr also connects businesses with freelancers, offering digital services in 300 plus categories.
Amazon offers a diverse list of job applications, including virtual work that can be done at home. When you visit their website, just head on over to the Virtual Job Listings page and you will see a whole list of job offers posted specially for those in different remote locations.
There is plenty of opportunity on social media, more specifically on Facebook and Instagram. Social Media Influencers who make a living off of social media get their income from merchandise and ad revenue. You will have to work for those followers and viewers first before you can start earning.
Ideally, you will have to first decide who your target audience will be and that will also depend on what kind of content you will be producing. From there, you can build your community as you post content regularly. It may take some time, but with continuous hard work and persistence, you’ll be earning in no time.
Social Media Influencers can consist of livestream gamers, vloggers, product endorsers, models, etc.
My Garage Rentals
I’m sure we’ve all experienced that one-time spending money on something we’ve only used once, just to find it years later all covered up with dust, rust, and cobwebs as we spring-cleaned the attic or the garage. That would be fine if it were only a small tool like a measly hammer or a screwdriver, but what if it were something bigger that cost you a larger sum: like a jackhammer or an auger?
Money wasn’t the only thing wasted here, the time it was just sitting there was a waste in and of itself. What about the canopy, monoblock chairs and tables you use only once or twice a year for a birthday party? And how about that DSLR camera you said would gravitate your career towards photography but only ended up decorating your shelf?
Luckily there is My Garage Rentals, a peer-to-peer rental service platform that seeks to connect communities, allowing them to easily rent out their inventory to those that would rather borrow than buy. This gives your old, barely used things more value than leaving it to just sit in the corner somewhere.
My Garage Rentals is by no means a career, but it’s a great way to make that extra income while being in the safety of your home.
Kickstarter is a great platform to turn your creative ideas into reality. Your creative work is shared with a community that will later fund your project. This platform is perfect for inventors, game makers, and designers, to mention a few.
The awesome thing about Kickstarter is that the creators have full control over how the work is done from the ground up. The donors will not demand any last-minute revisions or require you to show several draft studies. Everything will be up to you, complete and absolute freedom.
As your donors back up your project’s funding and help advertise it, they too become part of your independent project.
Etsy is a global marketplace for original and creative products. If you’re skilled in arts and crafts, miniature sculpting, woodwork, and other do-it-yourself knick-knack skills, Etsy’s services allow you to sell your products here.
This is a great platform to turn your hobbies into a business and help propel you to the top. Etsy connects creators with buyers who prefer products that are handmade with tender loving care and have that human touch that no machine can replicate.
What if we told you that you could earn merely by trying out phone applications? With Featurepoints you can earn by downloading phone apps and submitting feedback. You can also earn by answering certain surveys and watching certain video ads.
You’re even given the option to receive your earnings either by cash or reward points that you can later use for well-known outlets like Nike.
This may not provide a stable income and it is not considered a job or a career by any means, but this can be a good side-line to nab a little extra income while looking for a more stable job.
VoiceBunny is the perfect platform for voice actors to showcase their voice-over talents online. Whether you’re just figuring things out or have already mastered voice acting, VoiceBunny is the site to be.
If you are just starting, it is recommended that you begin with charging small rates for your services at first and then work your way up as you complete more projects along the way.
Voice acting will not at all require you to have to leave your house since all you need to work with is your computer and recording device. VoiceBunny has been around for quite some time now and has proven to be quite a reputable voice-over job-seeking platform.
Just like in social media, earning money on Youtube won’t come easily and there usually aren’t any shortcuts for it either. You will also have to build a community first through the content you post, just like how social media influencers do.
If you work hard at it and remain persistent in posting regularly, your views will eventually increase and the subscribers will follow. Your content will have to be something that will capture a certain type of audience, the goal is to build a community that has a united interest.
Youtubers earn off of merchandise revenue and ad revenue. Youtube requires you to reach 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 total hours viewed before your videos are allowed to generate ads.
Twitch is a live-streaming website. Twitch is widely popular with video game enthusiasts as it was designed to provide gamers a platform. So, if you’re quite a skilled gamer, this might just be the workplace for you.
Just like Youtube and social media, you need to plan first who your ideal target audience will be and what genre of gaming you plan to stream. There is usually a different audience for each video game genre, so it’s important to keep in mind what type of games you will invest in.
Twitch streamers earn money through subscriber donations, merchandise, and ad revenue.

On January 30th, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the COVID-19 outbreak a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC). Since then, public transportation around the world has been restricted to help prevent the spread of the virus. But as we are now entering a new normal, the restrictions are slowly being lifted and public transportation guidelines and regulations are being implemented, allowing citizens to commute again. Despite the lifting of restrictions, many citizens have chosen not to utilize public transportation and instead have decided to purchase their own bicycle. Besides the obvious reason that it’s a good way of transportation, owning a bike during the pandemic holds a lot of benefits. If you’re one of the commuters who are still skeptical about getting a bike for transportation, this article may be just for you. We’ve listed the top 5 reasons you should own a bike during the pandemic.
A study by Zhen Yan, Ph.D., professor of cardiovascular medicine at the University of Virginia, shows that exercise can help in the prevention of the Covid-19 virus. A type of respiratory failure called ARDS or Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome inflames the lungs and leads to a build-up of fluid, preventing oxygen from reaching your organs. ARDS is the cause of death for 3% to 7% of patients infected with the coronavirus. Zhen Yan concluded through his experiment that exercise promotes an antioxidant enzyme called extracellular superoxide dismutase, or EcSOD, that helps keep our lungs safe from damages caused by ARDS.
As you probably already know, biking is an amazing form of exercise. It’s a great way to sweat out a good cardio workout. Biking helps strengthen the muscles in your legs, hips, core, and glutes. That being said, biking is an excellent way to get those antioxidants out into your body and fight away the chances of respiratory failure caused by the virus.
These are hard times and not only are people losing their jobs and getting sick physically, but people are also getting affected mentally. This pandemic has caused most of us to be fearful of catching the virus and fearful of the uncertainties of the future. While a little bit of fear is good in helping us stay careful and aware, too much of it along with anxiety, stress, loneliness and not to mention the boredom of being in lockdown, can lead up to a dangerous level of depression.
Regular exercise has been proven to reduce anxiety and stress, working out produces small neurochemicals called endorphins that create a “high” of happiness in achieving a goal, and that can benefit one’s well-being. A study on exercise in mental health by Sammi Checkroud from Oxford University showed that on average, a person cycling suffered 21% fewer days of poor mental health as compared to a person performing other forms of exercise.
Riding a bike can also be quite therapeutic depending on the environment you’re biking through, riding through an amazing view, and with the cold wind in your face can be a rather calming experience. Biking on your own gives you a chance to think and process things while biking with other people can alleviate loneliness and boredom.
With several countries being in quarantine and on lockdown, traffic has nearly stopped and airline travels have been ceased, resulting in nitrogen levels dropping rapidly and the ozone layer recovering more quickly. Despite all the suffering this pandemic has caused humanity, it has brought drastic positive effects to the environment as well.
While we wait for things to go back to the way it was, it’s good to consider supporting the recovery of the environment. We can help contribute to Mother Nature’s healing with something as simple as owning a bike instead of using gas emission producing vehicles. Do your part and ride a bike now.
Saving money is a major factor in surviving during the pandemic. A lot of people have lost their jobs and businesses, and this has made it obvious that we have to be financially careful and well-prepared. And even if you’re one of the few who haven’t lost their source of income, being that the future is still uncertain, lack of budgeting during these times can be detrimental to your livelihood.
It doesn’t take a genius to know that a bicycle is inexpensive compared to getting a car. It’s also more affordable to purchase a bike than to constantly have to pay for an uber, a taxi, or for a bus ride to your workplace every day. Let’s also point out the fact that you will not have to worry about spending any gas money when owning a bike.
More than just saving money, you can actually make money out of owning one too. At our website at My Garage Rentals, you can have your bike rented out to people who only need it for a short time. You never know when your neighbor might need one quick ride to the grocery. This is an opportunity to take advantage of owning a bike and charging people to rent it out.
My Garage Rentals makes it very simple to post your bikes out for rent. Creating an account is quick and easy, and rather user-friendly. But if you’re the one interested in a bike, you can rent one out yourself; luckily, there is one available for rent right now for only $30 per day! Visit My Garage Rentals today and see all the available items for rent.
These are just some of the many reasons why you should start owning a bike during the pandemic. We haven’t even mentioned the fact that the fun and excitement in riding a bike can really turn things around for anyone during these hard times.
Please tell us what you think about this article. Was the article useful and was it able to help you decide whether or not you should own a bike? Is there some way we can improve in our writing? Send us your feedback and let us know what you think.
These are difficult and trying times, not just health-wise but also wealth-wise. Multiple businesses have been forced to shut down, employees have lost their jobs, and the rest of the economy is falling in a downward spiral. The unemployment rate in the US alone has skyrocketed to an all-time high since April, says a statistic from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. But it isn’t the end of the world, and even though it may probably take a really long time, we will definitely bounce back from this crisis. In the mean-time here are 5 ways to earn extra cash while coping with the pandemic.
Create Something and Sell It
An anonymous person wrote, “The desire to create is one of the deepest yearnings of the human soul.” There is something about our human nature that drives us to create something and to gain satisfaction from it. From toddlers with their Lego pieces to adults who practice robotics, we all have our own way of creating things. Most of the time we won’t even have to leave the house to create, making this an outstanding way to earn some extra cash during these times! If you’re a handyman for example and you’re into woodwork, or an arts and crafts kind of person; websites like Etsy can help you sell your own personal homemade creations online. Creating an account is easy and posting a product up for sale is oversimplified for its users. Depending on what you make or how many, you can earn a lot; but just like everything, it takes persistence and perseverance to see the results.
Offer Work and Services Online
If you’re into graphic design or photography, there are multiple websites that allow you to post your artwork online for sale as stock photos. Adobe Stock, Shutterstock, Unsplash, or Pexels are some of the best websites you can visit to upload your artwork for sale.
Or why not apply as a virtual assistant, a content writer, a social media manager, video editor, or an online tutor? Websites like UpWork and LinkedIn can help you easily find work online, all you have to do is to create a profile that includes your resume and you’re good to go. According to an article we found in Statista, about 160 million people in the United States since April 2020 have used LinkedIn to find work.
Offer Your Services to Neighbors
Living in a neighborhood means having a lot of opportunities. Offering to mow your neighbor’s lawn is actually a brilliant way to earn some extra money, and it’s not even that hard. You can water their plants, walk their dogs around, or do their grocery shopping for them. If you know a bit about plumbing or carpentry, offer to do repairs. If you’re on the way to buy food, offer your neighbors to buy their food or beverages for them, just charge them a bit but don’t overprice it!
Sell Things You Don’t Use Anymore
Everyone’s got something lying around their house they no longer need or will probably never use again. These items may be useless to you, but they could be worth something to others. With websites like Craigslist, Offerup, or Facebook Marketplace, it’s easy to sell items. With these websites, finding buyers within close vicinity will not be a problem at all. Rummage through your box of old things in the attic, clean out your basement, or ravage the toolbox in your garage. I’m sure there’s at least one thing they’re worth selling and don’t tell me I’m wrong because you know I’m not.
Rent Out Your Things
If you’re not comfortable selling the items and equipment you have lying around your house, you can always have them rented out instead. With a website like My Garage Rentals, having your things rented out online is made possible. Maybe rent out that old vacuum you don’t use anymore or that old camera you’ve forgotten about. Creating an account is a breeze. User profiles and feedback are there to ensure that a renter is genuine and takes excellent care of what they rent. My Garage Rentals is a sure-fire way to earn money, especially during this pandemic, because people would rather avoid risking their health going into crowded malls just to buy something brand-new that they’ll most likely only need once, and prefer renting out an item at a location and from a person they can safely discern through the website. So, clear out your garages and start renting out your stuff today, click here for more details.
Milton Berle said, “If opportunity doesn’t knock, build a door.” There’s always a way to earn money out there, you just have to get up on your own two feet, you’ve got to stop sulking about the economy, and make something out of what you have lying around. There are many ways to earn money during tough times like this and there still are many more out there. Opportunities are everywhere, and this virus shouldn’t limit us or stop us from taking them.
Just like everything else in the market, it’s only wise that you do a bit of research first before buying your power tools and in this article, we’re going to be focusing specifically on drills. This article was formed to better help you, our reader, to decide on what to spend your hard-earned bucks on.
Corded and Cordless Drills
Drills are power tools that excel in drilling holes into wood, concrete, and steel. If you ever decide to purchase a drill to add to your shop, you will eventually come across a dilemma whether to get a cordless drill or a corded one. When considering which drill to purchase, it’s important to keep in mind the difference between the two.
Corded drills traditionally have more torque and a higher RPM (revolution per minute) and can be exploited for longer use without shutting off. You would often use a corded drill for heavy-duty work in drilling holes in wood, concrete, and steel. These are usually powered by a 110 to 120-volt electric cord.
Cons: Having a corded drill could mean having to lug around extension cords, due to most corded drills being installed with only a 6-ft wire. You will also have to be constantly pulling on the cord to unplug it when moving around your shop, and that might be frustrating.
Pros: One thing to consider when starting out doing DIY projects is that corded drills are essentially more affordable compared to cordless drills, a big factor on why is because you won’t be required to buy any extra batteries and not having to worry about battery life and recharging.
If you’re considering purchasing a corded drill, we recommend that you go for the Black and Decker DR260C Corded Drill. This light-weighted corded drill does a bang-up job in drilling into wood, masonry, and metal, with the 5.2 amp power it produces. It also provides ample variable speed for good control during drilling and driving.
Cordless drills, on the other hand, are battery-powered and don’t require you to plug them into any outlets. Its battery life depends on the amp per hour; the greater the amp per hour, the longer the battery life. Unlike corded drills, cordless ones have either a 3/8 or ½ inch sized clutch that enables them to drill and drive with a bit stripping/snapping preventive mechanism. Cordless drills can be used to drill holes into wood, concrete, and metal. You can also use them to screw in fasteners.
Cons: Cordless drills are a much bigger investment because you will be purchasing as many batteries as you have tools and each battery can cost you at least $60. You can also expect compatibility problems as not all batteries will be compatible with your drill. Another itch you’ll encounter is the running out of battery life and having to recharge them from time to time.
Pros: You can work from point A to point B without having to worry about tripping on its cord and lugging extension cords around. As long as you have good quality drills and batteries, cordless drills can be very reliable and powerful to work with, they are also traditionally more durable as compared to corded drills. The clutch mechanism in a cordless drill is adjustable to your preferred setting where a corded drill would normally have a fixed clutch. In terms of longevity, the brushless motors found in cordless drills can perform more efficiently than that of the corded.
If you’re just starting out and looking for a quality yet affordable cordless drill, we recommend the Makita XT269M. Its efficient BL brushless motor is electronically controlled to optimize battery energy use to up to 50% longer run-time per charge. It has a 2-variable speed ½ inch Hammer Driver Drill. It is equipped with a max torque and its light-weighted to only 4.2 pounds including the battery. You can purchase a combo kit for only $249.00 on Amazon.
A hammer drill or impact drill is traditionally used for drilling in hard materials such as concrete, brick, and stone. Although some hammer drills are equipped with a setting that allows you to switch to a non-hammering mode, it is highly discouraged that you use it to drill into wood.
Hammer drills can be a bit over on the pricey end when comparing with regular drills. They are also more substantial in mass when we talk about the ergonomics. But when it comes to its functionality, versatility, and durability, and depending on its brand, hammer drills are worth your penny.
We highly recommend the DeWalt DCD996P2 if you’re looking to getting the best quality hammer drill out there. This tool produces high-performance transmission for fast application speeds and improved run time. Its highly efficient brushless motors deliver up to 57 percent more run time over brushed motors.
Impact drivers are mainly used for driving in screws that require a lot of torque. These tools are equipped with a hammering-like-mechanism that pushes forward its screw bit in the actual circular rotation of the chuck. More than just driving in screws, the impact driver also loosens up screws that may have been tightened up too much or have been stuck due to over-torque.
These drivers can pack a powerful punch and, in some instances, are capable of snapping screw bits off in half. If we compare this with a decent cordless drill that, let’s say, produces around 60Nm (Newton Meter, the unit for torque) force, then an impact driver will produce about 150Nm.
If you’re just starting out in the DIY world and are looking to getting your first impact driver. We highly recommend the DeWalt DCF885C1 impact driver. It’s affordable, it’s powerful, and it’s not complex at all to use. Ergonomically speaking, it’s quite compact, only taking up 5.55 inches, front to back, and is light-weighted with 2.8 pounds (excluding battery). You can get one for $99 at Home Depot or on Amazon.
Facing a dilemma on which drill to buy? Why not borrow one instead of purchasing one brand new? Many DIY-ers collect a whole lot of tools and they’re prone to forgetting about the older ones they still have lying around their garage. My Garage Rentals gives them the opportunity to still make use of these tools by having them rented on the site. And you can rent them out yourself. While you’re still thinking on which drill to invest your money on, why not rent one for a day and for an affordable price? Rent a Hammer Drill today for only $30.00 per day. Click Here.
