The new year is almost here and the holiday season is almost over, but that does not mean the fun has to stop. Everyone needs fun in their life and we here at My Garage Rentals are big supporters of continuing the fun and that is why we believe everyone should take this opportunity to set the New Years Resolution to do something new! And that something new is something that most people have never done. Go and grab some snow shoes and go on a hike in a beautiful place that you would never have normally gone. Take some friends with you. The world is there to explore and just because it is covered in deep snow does not mean you need to wait til it melts. In fact, if you do, you will be missing out on some of the most spectacular beauty there is.
If you live in a place where there is deep snow on a regular basis then go purchase a pair (or several pair) of these. Go on the adventure yourself, take some friends, and then let others have the opportunity to do the same. They won’t take up too much space in your garage, but most people don’t want to purchase such an item because they will not be using it on a regular basis. You on the other hand will be allowing others to use them, so they will be used. You will be allowing others to take the hike of a lifetime. Most people want to go on adventures (especially these kind) with their friends and not alone, so the more you have on hand the bigger the opportunity to rent to groups. If you only have one pair then you are limiting who will rent them to people who want to go by themselves.
Go ahead give it a try!! You only live once!Read More
It is still December and the snow is just starting to fall (at least in some parts of the country), but let’s take a break from the snow items for a minute. Guess what else the winter brings. Yes cool weather, but also short days and long nights. This is the perfect opportunity for star gazing. Whether you want to have a romantic date night or you are just curious what the rings of Saturn look like, a high powered telescope would do the trick.
The average person does not have a high powered telescope sitting in their house. They can cost anywhere from $100 to $10,000 and unless someone has money to just throw around they don’t want to just flippantly purchase such items. This is the perfect type of
item to rent out! BUT there are also the not so average people that love using their telescope and who have invested in purchasing a high powered one so they can the details of planets hundreds of millions of miles away.
If you know such a person who has a telescope tell them they should post it on MyGarageRentals.com and rent it out. They could make some money and someone else could be blessed to have an experience they have wanted for years, but been unable to.Read More
It’s that time of year again where hours are spent moving the white fluffy stuff out of our way so we can live our life. Sure it is beautiful, but it also causes a lot of work just to live normal life. It is slippery, wet, cold, and gets in the way. Depending on where you live people make a living moving snow out of the way so that we can go from one place to another in the winter months. It can be an endless job where the work is complete one day and then restarted in the exact same place the next.
Now your job may not be to remove snow full time, but if you live in an area where it snows it will often times be your responsibility to move it at some point and time in your life. If you are a homeowner and you have a yard you will have to do it, no matter how hard you try not to. Sure maybe you pay the neighbor boy down the street to do it, but there will still inevitably be a few times where you will still have to do it. Or maybe you are the kind of person that hates paying someone to do something that you can do yourself, so you always do it.
No matter what boat you are in, moving snow is a must and going to happen to you at some point and snow blowers speed this process up and can save you lots of time. But maybe you don’t have the space in your garage to store one. Well why not use your neighbors? (This is a rhetorical question of course because that is the point of My Garage Rentals) You can! The two of you can both use it. Now you don’t both have to purchase it and store it. One makes the initial financial investment, provides a place to store it, and the other just pays when they need to use it, or for the season, or however you work it out. If you are the one borrowing it now you still have space in your garage for funner and more useful items, such as your car… or snowboards… or your hobbyist woodworking tools…Read More
1. People who don’t have the money to invest large amounts of money can invest a small amount and still make a good return.
Let’s face it, we don’t all have enough money to buy an investment property to rent out. Whether on VRBO or AirBnb you either need to have an extra house or at least an extra room in your house (in which case you will need to give up your privacy) in order to make a return renting out something that you own.
With My Garage Rentals that is not the case. People can invest with items they already have at their house or with they can make small initial investment to expand their reach.
- A great example of the first would be if you owned a popup canopy that they used once a year to go camping. That could be rented out to smaller groups such as families.
- Or if you wanted to make a little investment you could purchase 10 canopies to rent. These would have a larger reach because people doing larger get togethers could use them. This would be great for weddings or parties.
2. Those who have extras sitting around can rent them out and make money on them.
Let’s face it. We all have things that we bought years ago sitting around our house or our garage collecting dust. We don’t use it hardly ever, if at all, but we don’t want to get rid of it just in case we will need it sometime in the future. Or maybe it is something that you only use once a month or once a year. My Garage Rentals now offers you the opportunity to rent those items to people who want to use them, but may not want to keep them. Now those things that are sitting around can collect some money rather than just dust.
- Let’s say for example that one of your hobbies is gold mining in the desert. You have all the equipment needed such as a large dry washer, but now you just don’t go out as often. Well what you didn’t realize is that there is a person living across town who has just acquired gold fever. They are not ready to purchase large equipment, or they don’t have the space to store it. Why not rent your dry washer to them on the weekends they want to use it?
3. Those who don’t have space, don’t have to store them.
Many of us, especially those who live in densely populated urban areas live within a small space. Whether a small house, condo, or apartment we don’t have the space to keep extra things sitting around even if we wanted to, or used them on a regular basis. The examples I gave above are perfect. A popup canopy that you use every time you go to the park or the beach takes up a lot of space in a closet or storage shed you have. Why not just borrow it from a neighbor for the few days a year you actually need it, then give it back to them to store. You could probably rent it dozens of times for the cost of buying it, but now it isn’t taking up space in your already crowded living area.
4. Those who are only going to use something once don’t have to buy.
Sometimes we just know that we are only going to be using something once. Well there only used to be a couple options if you didn’t know somebody personally who owned it: Buy it or rent it from a store. Now you can find individuals all over who have exactly what you need. Below are just a few examples.
- Having a large party? You don’t need to spend enormous amounts of money renting items like tables and chairs from your local party supply rental warehouse. Your neighbor around the corner has 10 round tables that she uses every once in a while for parties at their house.
- Doing a home DIY project and know you only need the specialty tool this one time? Why rent or buy from a hardware store when you could use a neighbors? This is actually where the idea for My Garage Rentals came from: a home plumbing project.
- Going on a camping trip that your friends invited you on, but you know you won’t be going again? You are doing this only because someone special is going and you want to make a good impression.
- Want to have an amazing date night looking at the stars through a high powered telescope even though you are not a typical stargazer? Well there is a good chance there is a hobbyist astronomer just a few blocks away. They are willing to let you use their telescope. And on top of that they can give you special insight on some special things to look at in the sky.
Christmas is still a couple weeks away and people are still buying and setting up decorations. This is the one holiday a year that I consistently love to decorate. In fact, yesterday I was in the backyard hanging some Christmas lights on my kids play set because as far as I am concerned, you can never have too many. Each year that goes by I see things at the store that I think would be so much fun to have around the house or in the yard to help enhance the atmosphere for the season just a little bit more. But the problem is that I don’t want to buy something large that I am then going to have to store for the rest of the year. That gave me the thought, “Why not rent them?” This would be perfect if there was a person who would be willing to let me borrow the giant (fill in the blank) ______ decoration this year.
This same idea is also true for other holidays. I don’t usually decorate for anything else, but every once in a while I get a bug and want to. If it was easier to get some of the fun decorations without having to fork out the dough then maybe I would do it every once in a while.
No need to store items is my biggest reason for wanting to rent holiday decorations, but also being able to save money by not having to buy something different each year. I could rent something different from a different person each year and my house will always look different and fun!
Somebody please post something to My Garage Rentals so I can rent it out for the next holiday season!!Read More
Last week we mentioned the winter sports of Snowboarding and Skiing. Well since winter is not even officially here yet and won’t be for a few more weeks, let us continue getting those ideas out there for the upcoming season. Snowfall has already started in much of the country and will continue for months to come.
Whether or not you have taken on the idea to rent out snowboards and skis why not build upon that by adding
clothing. While some people who do not have a snowboard do have the jacket and pants, most do not. Why buy such items, when you don’t need to, right? Storing such items takes up a lot of space for a person who would only use it once a year or every few years. Well you could either enhance your snowboard offering by adding valuable clothes to it, or you could just try renting them alone. Why not give it a shot!?
There are quite a few companies out there renting snow gear for $10 to $40 a day depending upon the length of the rental and the style of the clothing. Most individuals are going to want to use it for the duration of their stay on the mountain, which means less work for you for a longer rental period.Read More
